Non Prelude technical problem (Wipers)

Right, I've got an X plate Peugeot Boxer van and finding anyone enthusiastic enough to make a forum about these is impossible lol. So I thought I'd ask you guys.

The intermittent wiper setting doesn't work properly it just works the same as the slow setting. Also the wipers don't self park and the wipers don't move at all on the wash/wipe function.

When I bought the van the wiper linkage was seized solid so I had to take it out and free it up etc.

Any idea what could be causing my problems?

There is a switch in the motor that registers when the wipers are 'parked' - I'd bet it's knackered.

So I'm guessing I'd have to replace the whole motor then?

Have a look at it, sometimes the switch can be cleaned.

Probably the Peugeot badge..

Only joking mate, it could be that your wiper stalk/switch is bad if not the wiper motor itself.

It could well be that peugeot badge! The 106 I had was absolutely shocking!
Are there any tests I can do to test the motor and stalk? I'm guessing I should see a pulsed voltage at some point?

Yeah the French don't seem to do well with electronics.. well, at least not in their cars anyway.

Do you have a multimeter and do you know how to use it? If so it should be relatively straight forward to test. There are spare wiper switch units on eBay here

Hey man, ive had dealings with these before. If there is a cover on the back of the motor try taking it of, it will let you into the contacts. They are really bad for grease seeping through from the motor and spreading across the contacts. if you wipe it away it will hopefully cure it. Not sure if it is the same type but worth a try, quick and easy!

I'm just wondering if I should expect to see pulsed voltages or a constant or lower voltage etc? Or will the motor have seperate connections for intermittent, slow and fast functions?

also may have burned out some of the contacts relays if it was seized
