4g BB4 front hub/knuckle compatibility?
Post by Angus » Wed Mar 14, 2018 9:34 pm
Does anyone happen to know whether a complete knuckle/hub off a UK 4g 2.0 car with ABS will fit straight onto my non-ABS 4g BB4?
i.e. will my brake disc and calipers fit, and is there any ABS gubbins that's going to cause me problems? I can't find anything that'll let me compare part numbers (e.g. all unavailable parts on Lings).
Alternatively, if the whole knuckle/hub isn't a straight swap, can I remove the hub/bearing and use that on mine?
(My main problem is that I have one busted stud, one that's dodgy, and the beginnings of a wheel bearing whine. So hub/bearing needs done.)

Yeah, obviously you need the toothed ring on the hub for the ABS sensor if running ABS, but other than that it's the same fitment. And in most aftermarket cases, the hubs (ABS and Non-ABS) are exactly the same, but the ABS versions have the toothed ring pressed on in addition. So, if you had such a hub and know/measure the size, you could get an ABS ring pressed on to a Non-ABS hub.

Yea but where would you put the abs sensor? Non abs hubs don't have the hole for the sensor. It's a solid hub.NafemanNathan wrote:Yeah, obviously you need the toothed ring on the hub for the ABS sensor if running ABS, but other than that it's the same fitment. This is the sensor placement I know...

(Not my picture by the way)
It bolts on the upright and points down on the ABS ring. I'm pretty sure Non-ABS ludes have the mounting holes for the sensors as well, but I could be wrong on that.
EDIT:
This is my 5th gen's...

Only just realised this is for the CV joint ring as aposed to the hub
The hub ABS ring applies to the rear.
I'll have to look at my 4th gens (Which are both Non-ABS from the factory) to confirm whether they have the mounting holes as well.
