Cheap 7 seaters?

Post by Shiny » Sun Jan 24, 2016 2:07 pm

Looking like we may have some friends from Italy come and stay in Swindon for a week and the plan is to take them out to Avebury, Bibury, possibly further afield, maybe Kent or so to see castles and jobby.

Will need a 7 seater, which from what I can tell will be circa £400 to hire for a week.

Thinking about buying one instead, use it, then detail it and sell it on. May hang on to it for the summer, may not.

Budget £1k to £1.5k.

Honda have the stream, odyssey etc but not sure I can get a half decent one at that price. Would like it to be comfy and reliable, although I have RAC.

I can't stand Vauxhall Zafiras, Renault Scenics and the like.

Come on then chaps, throw some suggestions my way, I'm a bit vague where these are concerned.

Don't care if they only come in Auto.

How about the toyota previa/estima or lucida. 8 seater.
Toyota reliability and very cheap.
Should do the job nicely. My mate had one of these which he used for taxing and he had it for 6 years and didn't have any trouble with it. He then sold it as he gave up the job.

Previa is a good shout. I like the newer ones, but again may be a bit pricey. The older model looks a bit council.

I think that will be harder to shift after, Phil. May also be a bit thirsty.

Yeah, saw that on eBay when I was having a browse this afternoon. Loads of room, but I think it will be like driving a transit van. Probably too big.

You should be able to get a decent Sharan for that, which could be moved on later without much bother.
