ABS Problem

Post by semicolin » Fri Jul 04, 2014 10:44 am

The ABS light has been on since i bought the car in August, the seller said he had replaced a sensor previously and that the light had just came on that morning :/
I finally got round to pulling the code, it's the RF wheel speed sensor. Is there anything i can look at before ordering a new sensor?

Have a look a the sensor to check that it is not just covered in crap and dirt, also check the reluctor ring(the nobbly ring that sits around it the CV joint ) for damage, lastly check it is plugged in properly.

Also, unplug it and continuity/resistance check across the pins to the sensor, to confirm it is the sensor that's gone (most likely) rather than the loom between the ECU and the plug (least likely).

What the guy fails to mention is that if you test the sensor and get no reading across it, that's also a knackered sensor (open circuit). That's normally what you'll find on ludes.

ABS sensor plugs on ludes are orange connectors.

Yeah exactly - ignore the second one from factual value, I only posted it because it was linked from the first and I watched it and I was thinking... " :?
He's right that dirty sensors can cause it to show an ABS fault, but is talking bollocks that it can take 2 days for the light to go out after you've cleaned them - it would be an instant fix, either works, or it doesn't. :tosser:
