this kind of stuff. rather than the cloth stuff.
any good? would it not just get hot being metal? or does titanium not pass heat as well?
it would look nice in the engine bay thats for sure.

take a look at this;
http://www.roymech.co.uk/Related/Thermo ... nsfer.html
Titanium isn't on there but it shows metals transfer heat much better than traditional fabrics so the titanium wrap would probably be a waste of time.
EDIT: Also shows that stainless is already one of the best options second to fabric insulation

@shiny: that was just as example you bugger. it will go about 3 feet i reckon.
@alex.yes i did wonder if using a metal to stop heat escaping might be a daft idea. i will look further. there has to be a reason for it.

It's probably harder wearing than the fabric stuff, you could layer it up and put it over a fabric one that way you get the performance and the look

It seems the good stuff is actually a combine with heat resistant ignious rock. there is nothing like heat resistance than lava
i can see how it works and i think it would be a better option. it seems people with cars MUCH more expensive than ours are quite exited.

That could work, nothing like a good bit of rock for insulation
I'm considering heat wrapping the intake (once I fix the other issue:() to get the temp down a little

Titanium has a higher heat capacity than steel, and air more than both combined, so in theory the heat would rather stay within the steel/wrap than radiate into air.lewd lude lover wrote:@alex.yes i did wonder if using a metal to stop heat escaping might be a daft idea. i will look further. there has to be a reason for it.
