£570 for the lhd one.

Hopefully will get the engine out the other one on Sunday ready to go in this one. Ordered the new hot rod headlamps so hopefully they'll be here ready for working on it Sunday. Take the wings off and fit these headlamps to the front and fit the old stock indicators from the trike on there too.

I need to take the anti roll bar off the old one and fit to the new one too as that didn't have one on it. Job to do with the engine still out.

Rodding has commenced.

I've been busy today! Pulled the 1600 twin port out the old bug, and been rodding the front end of the new bug too.

Old motor out:

This is looking better!

I also "assembled" the rear seat that was just thrown in the back of the bug. Something tells me there's a slight lack of back support. Guess I'll be making a back rest out of a sub enclosure then.

I could do, but it doesn't have the right look up there. Volksrods look best with the lights as low down and far forwards as possible.

Do they not have to be a min. of 500mm from the ground for the MOT?

Nope, there are one set of rules for 0-850mm centre point height, and another set of rules for headlamps with the centre more than 850mm from the deck.

Am I misunderstanding this then or is this different to the MOT thing? :? Http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989 ... ule/4/made I realise this isn't a MOT guide whateverdoowatsit but I can't imagine there being conflicting rules?

Haven't actually looked for this 850 thing you mention as I'm browsing my my phone. Obviously there are custom vehicles out there that don't conform, just curious how you get around it.

Nope, you're right, vehicle road legislation once again doesn't apply for MOT's. You don't need any sort of wheel arch for an MOT, but you need them to legally be on the road, and this has always been a point of argument between hot rodders and police (no point arguing with VOSA as you'll just end up with your hot rod seized :( )

I shall check on the height of them tomorrow then. I might be raising them up slightly...... booo :(

Thinking about it, I'm sure the headlamps are lower than that on my Aerodeck..... I'm gonna have a check on that one now!

Yep, just checked and the bottom of the Aerodeck headlamps are at 420mm, and I haven't lowered the front end that much (50mm), so I guess that must be from a midpoint measurement as that would have put the factory headlamp midpoint at around 500mm off the deck.

Just checked on this, it is the lowest point of the light, which means that my Aerodeck headlamps have never once complied with the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations!! Naughty Honda!

Got the rod up and running today too. Only took a new fuel pump to get it running. Just a bugger cos the first new fuel pump was faulty.
