That interior really suits the car.... That should have been standard type s equipment, matches with all the red stitching... Good Job

Fake Honda Access mats made from scatter mats.

Post by honda-hardy » Fri Jun 06, 2014 1:36 am

Over the last few days I have been working on mats for my Lude as the Access ones are not available or expensive to import.

So this is the genuine Access mat set from Honda.

Image

As you can see it has a heal pad and a logo badge. I will not be using a heal pad.

These are the foul brown Honda Access mats that I had when I bought the Lude.

Image

These were taken out and replaced. But I removed the Prelude logos from them and kept them in my tool box.

Recently I have changed the carpet and center console in my Lude from black to red.

On Monday, I had to pop over to Swindon and on the way back I found a store called Family discounts or something like this. I was walking around as you do and stumbled upon some scatter mats, so I asked the til staff if I could take one to the car and colour match it and check it for size. and would you believe it.. they looked great.

Image

i also bought some thin mats that were not as good a match for the rear, but after all its only for protection and to hide a thinning area of the red carpet.

The new mats were traced and cut out.

Rears fitted as these were just a simple cut out job. but the front drivers mat was a different story.

Image

Trial fit of the front drivers mat and its a good fit.

Image

i found a local wool supplier and colour matched the edging and stiched around the cut outs.

And with a hot glue gun , I stuck the genuine Access logo onto them.

Image

a poor picture but you get the idea.

And the passenger one.

total cost £11 for genuine Honda Access replica mats.

mats front 2 for £5.
mats for rear £1.25 each
wool £2
big needle £1.50

Impressed with the dedication and ingenuity 8-)

 would the original foul brown ones have bleached and re-dyed the right colour I wonder?

Great effort, suberb finish and cheap, which is always a bonus!

But where did you get all the green trim and pedals from:

if you want me to get some for you then I can but I'm not going to stitch them. You can do that yourself.
