Am I missing something? A fractional half, be it 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 etc. always reduces to 1/2, which when not relevant to a mentioned number (so this is very applicable in this case since I mentioned no number to which half pertained) is just... a half, or one half, of one.
And the 5/16 (8mm) - 5 16 8 thing.
5/16 is clearly not equal to 1/2. 16/8 is 2, then I saw the 5 and thought of 0.5 or half (lol). So then I thought half of 16 is 8 and how the 5/16" to 8mm relationship is beautiful.
