sorry, I wrote 'whole' in my original dialogue, I meant to write 'hole' The actual pitch of stud bar you buy is not so relevant , pitch -wise, as long as you buy the corresponding pitch bolt to attach the spoiler to the inside of your boot. I understand your reticence, however, in drilling new holes in your boot lid as once drilled it needs to be exactly in the right place.

Luke s water leak test update:

Original problem -
- water leaked from rear lights
- water seem to leak elsewhere

Soln: new gaskets, remove aerial

Day 1: water leaked from gap in passenger rear bumper
Soln: Duct tape gap, close gap

Day 3: small splashes from hole in boot (where it rusted thru)
- maybe small leak from bottom of rear window trim?
Soln: Duct tape the rust hole

Water Leak Test ...

Day 5
Heavy rain - and boot well dry as bone.

So
Bumper gap holding out :)
Rear light gaskets good :)
Aerial hole "electrician tape" good :)
Boot well rust hole "duct tape" good :)

Long term plan:
1. Need to weld boot well rust holes
2. Sealed grommet for aerial hole
3. Monitor if rainwater will leak via bottom of rear window trim
4. Stick internal aerial in boot?

Outstanding jobs:

1. Fix fog lights
2. Fit rear spoiler
3. Monitor car not starting sometimes (relay? Starter motor? Others?)

It is not the main relay...

I listed all the other things it could be in my previous post about this.

Ok
That rust in Luke - its gona cost £££££££££!!!! Eeeek!

The reason is:
Took Luke to both a MOT garage (welding) + a bodyshop (fibre glassing)...

Welding the holes in boot wing £100 - cheap!
Fibre glassing even cheaper - but just hides the problem!

Now
If i have managed to stop the rust, then fibreglassing is an option.
BUT have I?

£100 welding i prefer!
But the cost to cut out BOTH wheel arches will be substantial.
Now there are no holes in the wheel arches, but how long before it gets worse???

I have de-rust and dinitrol as much as i can ...

Decision
Decision!
DECISION again!

You'll never win unless all the rust is cut out and replaced (to a high standard), anything else is just a sticking plaster solution. I think your decision needs to be based on how long you want to keep the car v's how much you are willing to spend.

^^^^This if your keeping it forever the decision is easy if your likely to get fed up and want to move on to another project then its not such an easy decision to make.
