wut

Half of one. :? :|

As in, a half.

I thought you knew :( I took your 516/8 thing to be a code.
You didn't state half of one.

I have issues when "half" is used in sums.

Ten multiplied by half in a lot of peoples mind is 5 right? (10 x 0.5 = 5 correct)

But in the literal sense half can be any number (except 0) as it's a fraction.

So, 10 x half = 10 x 5 (half of 10) = 20
That also makes sense.

But I didn't state half of anything, just a half (which translating my poor English would be one half - perhaps for accurate), which when you talk in fractions not relevant to any number in particular, it's always relevant to one, since any complete fraction (and by that I mean 2/2, 3/3, 4/4 etc.) is equal to 1/1 or 1.

Also, what sum? Nafe, I do wonder where your mind is sometimes. :P

New question: So if someone says to you two halves, do you think 2/4 or 2/2 ?

If you'd asked "Which number makes you think of 1/2?", then fair enough, but you didn't, you asked "Which number makes you think of half?", so again... Half of what?

So Donald, explain your 5/16 8 or 516/8 theory.
