Today, I paid the DVLA an extra 50 quid.
Having been reassured by my insurance company that I could get a day's cover just by 'phoning, I'd kept the Teg in tax in case I needed to drive it somewhere for its overhaul. The £50 fine was for not insuring it, even though it wasn't on the public highway. It's the law, I know, and I should have sorned the thing. But by what standard is it just that the exchequer should somehow find a way of charging me double? After all, I would have paid nothing if I'd done it their way.
I feel a stiff letter coming on!
