Re: Another Track 4th gen - M2B4 gearbox fitted.

Post by Thebusofwoe » Sat Feb 27, 2016 9:07 pm

Had the Lude in at work today. Fitted the M2B4 gearbox i had. Was tight getting it in and out without dropping the engine but got it done, not sure what to think of it really. Seems to accelerate better, but not sure if the lsd is going to be of any use on the track?? :? May of completely wasted my time to be honest :?

Probably because it's a viscous lsd. Never understood the fuss over the m2b4 or the other 5th gen lsd boxes.
Helical from the atr box or aftermarket torsen and clutch type any day for me.

On the 2nd gen MR2's there was a viscous LSD available, and from the MR2 forum the common consensus sea to be that unless the gearbox hasn't travelled many miles then the diff tends to allow more and more slip as it wears. There were some guys finding that their LSD boxes were behaving the same as an open diff :?

On the Euro-R I find the diff locks when you're turning out of tight junctions etc., does the M2B4 do that?

Ive always found the M2B4 box to be good for day to day driving - it quite unobtrusive which is probably what Honda intended - yes it will become less effective over time but should still give you a little bit more control out on track but not much. Its nothing like a proper racing diff :)
