Shot blasting is fine but it can be too course and the sand can get stuck into tiny pours that arnt visable.
Media blasting is much friendlier with the same results.

Rather than just sit out in the garden (if it is sunny) i can have a little play with my bollox.
I want to see how they end up, spraying them all over myself, as i have in my mind how i want them to look. Whether they will end up how i envisage them is another matter entirely though!

Wheels arrived today. drokk me they are dirty on the inside, the face is ok, but I don't think that the back of the wheel has ever been cleaned.
So question...how clean do I need to get them so they are suitable for media blasting? Is it just a case of getting the worse off, or will they need to be really clean to get the best result fro media blasting.
Also, they still have the valves in. I guess I'll be using my current valves when I swap the tyres over, so how do I remove the valves ready for blasting?

What media are you thinking? Who is doing it? Are you going down to bare alloy? If your sand blasting them it doesn't matter how dirty they are.

As for the valves. If its just rubber ones cut them out from behind using a kitchen knife. You aim to cut the mushroom end off flat to the alloy and then the valve pulls out from the front.
