Its always 'a joke' to the larger group throwing the abuse. The same as its always considered 'bad form' by the minority to tell that group to drokk off every now and again when the larger group goes too far.

this is true in any kind of discrimintation you care to look at. race/sexuality/age/ability/religion and it seems cars are open to discrimination in the name of 'fun'. it starts gently and builds up.

some will let it slide. some will just not bother with a discriminatory community and leave.

'Banter' as understood by this forum is 4th gen abuses 5th gen. nothing more.

if we abused the 2.0l owners i could slightly understand but not the purile 'entertainment' you seem to derive from 4-5th.

your poll is disreputable to the supposed 'open' attitude of this forum. If all you can see is 'fun' then I hope your having it

And this is exactly why I started this thread LLL. Until a "certain response" I was completely unaware that what I saw as "banter" was anything other than fun. You blatantly see it differently to how I see it, but now I am aware of the way someone like yourself sees it, I'm willing to do something about it.

I myself wouldn't call it discrimination or bullying as such as that definitely isn't as it's intended. I've said to Nitin that I'd gladly own a 5th gen... A black one, and if it had ATTS then all the more better, but the banter has gone on for so long between this club, PUK and LB that it just becomes second nature for some of us to throw a quick quip. It's never intended to actually upset anyone. And being that many 5th genner ball back suggested it was fine. As said, I couldn't be of two races/sexualities/ages/religions, but I could happily own a 4th and a 5th gen... It's not discrimination... It's purely just an ongoing joke and I just happen to own a 4th gen.

I understand your frustration when there is a serious topic going on and someone just throws a 4th gen/5th gen insult in there, but this is when you simply either over look it, bat it back or simply laugh. They generally are related, and usually are funny if you're of that nature... it just might not appeal to you. So it's not necessarily that 5th genner are the majority... It's more a case that members taking personal insult are, but is that reason enough for it to stop.

I really don't want anyone to fall out over this, but as already said, you're not going to be able to suppress the banter, so what do we do?
