No prob! I tried to fix my key. Same as you, one of the charger tabs has gone.
And the button has, as usual, gone missing. I fitted a new button but without being charged it's never going to work.
Far too much hassle to repair, and even then it's IR so you have to point the key at the door handle. You might as well put the key in the hole and turn it then!
I had a cheapo aftermarket central locking gadget in before, cost a tenner on EBay, which is easy to install in the door and interface with the lock switch, but a mate of mine had this system surplus so I said why not.
I do like the proximity unlocking, and it has other niceties like when you drive off, the first time you press the brake it locks the doors. When you stop the engine it unlocks them.
And the remote the engine start will be nice when winter comes!

Yea. The set is about 100 quid on EBay. It's called a Smartlock SL980.
The Chinese-English translated instructions are a bit iffy, but not too bad. It took a day to install, not too much hassle if you know how to take the inside of your car to bits!
Lucky the Prelude is pretty easy to dismantle!

I've seen systems similar that are prices about 500 quid fitted.
'Fitted' being the operative word - if I had to fit this to someone else's car I'd probably be looking for about 400 quid for it, as if you don't know the car it would be a pain.
You have to fit three little glass-mount aerials at various places in the car, run the cables back to the central controller (which I put behind the radio), fit sounder for it in the engine bay, cable that, tap into door-open switch wiring, tap into door lock switch and run cable through the rubber boot in the door jam, get to wires on back of ign switch and cut some of them and tap into others, tap into indicator wires (I used hazard button) then put all the bits of trim and plastic that you took off back on again.
Only really worth doing if it's your own car!
