Yes they are unpleasant and I have had a few not helped by having claustrophobia
I have kleptomania,

I take something for it.

I get a flat spot in the RPM low down when the engine is cold, sometimes the light comes on. I need to pull the codes and see about getting a new IAT sensor  Maybe its covered in oily gunk and could simply do with a clean? I'll have to check.

Edit - £75 for a new IAT sensor :? I'll pass
Yup I got a code 10 for IAT sensor failure. So I am going to try and clean my IAT sensor before I replace it.

I removed one from my old a2 when Vanzep was having fuel enrichment issues. I think I still have it somewhere. The biggest problem is that it is held in with 2 screws rather than bolts so their heads can get mashed up. Plus I don't know how much space there is to access it on a full loaded 5th gen.

I know the kind you mean, like a knock sensor?

On the Prelude, well the H22 anyway, the IAT sensor looks like this:

yeah like knock sensor

maybe try dremel on the screw heads for a large flat head to get more leverage

you will probably need new screws anyway

Access is a pain on the 4th to get the IAT out, no room for a screwdriver. I hope the 5th is better.
