(LB) Toyo T1-Rs & Two-tone Boot Fitted
Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 8:53 am

NOTE: The newly painted two tone boot, with fresh colour co-ordinated badges

And before any one says anything, I've got some centre caps I'm yet to spray and the boot still needs a bit of polishing

Best wishes, Colin

(LB) IACV Clean. New P28 ECU
Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 8:56 am

Also, as some of you may be aware, I'm having a few irregular performance issues at the moment. So before I set off to make a few car part deliveries/collections slightly further up the country, I thought I'd clean out my IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) to see if that made any difference...
So it went from looking like this (And this picture doesn't do its sootiness justice)...

To this!...

Much better!

Still did **** all towards sorting my problem though

Anyway, my first delivery was up in Bath, where I dropped off a few parts and a fiver in exchange for this little puppy

Tis a P28, which was labeled as a P13 in rob394's lude

And obviously chipped, but as for what car I do not know. Anyway the plan eventually is to get it mapped to my lude (obviously) with the IAB components installed

Next stop was to a guy with a black bonnet. We did a swap over, and although alignment isn't perfect yet, it's a big improvement over my red bonnet which flapped to buggery! The front edge needs touching up, but I actually plan to be a little creative and mask off exposing the front 4-5 inches of the bonnet and painting with matt stone chip resistant paint.
After that I went and visited our very own Colin!

Again Colin, it was great to meet you finally.
I can't stress enough to everyone how friendly and helpful this guy is!

I can't see the pics of the bonnet in work today but caught the post before it yesterday.
You finally hunted down a P28 then and already socketed which is nice. It's not just the socket that need adding though, a couple of other components. Not sure of the specifics but I can see yours doesn't have a datalogging port like mine has so that will need to be added. So I'm sure that chip will be a generic basemap without the datalogging.
See my man Craig at GotBoost he'll sort you out.
I'm actually booked in at the end of October to fit the IAB components and tune, by which time I should have my decat and AEM fuel filter fitted. So fingers crossed all goes well.
Go look in the meets section as I'm organising a dyno day there. Would be ideal to get your P13 base power as a good comparison and you can bring the P28 up to see what needs doing. Plus there's of course the meeting of your fellow club members too.
I'll check the bonnet in a bit.

Yeah, the ECU came from rob394's lude. He didn't know what it was until I told him, and we don't really understand why it was in his car anyway (Unless it had had a fair amount of upgrades that have since been removed).
So yeah, I'm not even that sure it's been mapped to a Prelude being it's only been chipped, tho other Rob said his lude seemed to run smooth enough, and I think he even said Vtec kicked in at 5000. But still, I planned to visit your friend Craig to get the various IAB components and what not installed anyway

Have you got a rough idea of how much your tune/mapping etc is costing you yet? Just to give me an idea

(LB) New Dizzy, NS Driveshaft, Zebra Mats & Mugen Knob Fitte
Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 9:01 am

Just seems like a thing of the past now, but fitting a replacement dizzy has completely cured my powerloss

Next, my N/S cv boot split and being my only car I ended up running the joint with the knackered boot for a good week or so gradually knackering the joint. I also had a good amount of play coming from both inboard joints, but fortunately I was able to get hold of both drive shafts and intermediate shaft from a 2.0l with all good joints and boots for a very reasonable £50

Then I thought it was about time to treat the interior of my car. I'd literally not hoovered it out once since I got her

I managed to pick them up on ebay for an amazing £16 delivered

to looking like this

Check out that pile

So, the shocking inside of my car went from looking like this

To looking like this

You may have also noticed two other additions

Just need to get the old toothbrush out to clean the fiddly bits before I go off to Got Boost for the dyno run this weekend now

Also fingers crossed, I should be receiving some new grooved rear discs before then. I've managed to warp my currrent ones

(LB) New MTEC Rear Discs Fitted. Dyno Results & Cambelt Snap
Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 9:03 am

I'd only recently fitted new pads as well. Anyway, nice shiney groovey MTEC discs were fitted, car washed, and really blurry picture taken

Then sunday came! And our first ever dyno run was taking place at Got Boost near Cardiff. I left at a ridiculous 7.10am and was in a Welsh services waiting for Rob (Nucleustylz-lude) and Liam (Dreadi) by 8.20

Anyway, a long story short, I pulled on to the dyno... stalled

So I was pretty chuffed

Then left after a while to go home. 2-3 minutes from my house, 5000rpm up the last hill climb and she decided to cut out on me

Could this be the end?
