Thanks Steve, I will definitely try that, nice free fix if that's the case!
Merc, yeah that's the kind of thing I was thinking to be honest. Just don't know where to start as I don't want to spend much money on it, the van only cost me £180!

Steve! You are a legend! I took that cover off the back of the wiper motor and one of the contacts had broke. I managed to bend what was left of the contact so as it made contact with the ring part and hey presto!

Actually, there is one thing better than a cheap fix, it is quite rare but it does happen and it has happened to me... it's when the car just fixes itself
