Cheers woebus! definitley will check that too! its a pity i didnt take pics after id driven it back, probably would have been easier to diagnose, but it WAS a LOT of oil. if it was this, how much did it cost you to fix up and replace the seals/gasket?
and newkid, balance shaft seal, where would i find that offhand? hopefully these arent ludicrously expensive fixes!

The leak at the back of the engine could be the oil cooler seal that sits behind the oil filter.

Or cam seal (black circle) and Vtec spool valve gasket leaking (removed) and working its way round:

And for reference, the balance shaft seal sits behind the cam belt lower front (extreme left of the picture):

As pictured matey. The cam seal caps go hard over time and leak. Just remove it and seal it up. My rocker cover leak was due to the last kebab that did the cambelt not sealing the corners properly with grey sealer!

One life, LIVE IT! Get VTEC, LOVE it. Drive a Honda and ENJOY it.

From Honda for seals, the oil cooler is about £5. part number 91316-PE7-730

Welcome to LG.Riverghost wrote: And just one final thing i was thinking, and i know it might be a fixed answer - it is a prelude after all, but has anyone been able to do anything with those back seats? id love to be able to give my passengers some more legroom, or create some unusual chaise long style back seat for one person to sit atleast half comfortably!, but previous attempts and examples would give good inspiration!
Cheers dudes!
Others have already offered plenty of valid advice on the coolant/oil etc stuff, so no need to go into anything further there.
This bit has so far gone unanswered though, so I get to contribute something at least!

I'm not aware of anyone doing anything with the rear seats (other than taking them out for monster ICE instals). There's not a huge amount I think you could do - directly under the squab is the floor pan (under which sits the fuel tank), so no room there and directly behind the back rest, is the wheel arches and the bulkhead, so again nothing really you can do there without getting into major structural work.
The only thing that comes to mind is whether you have the sex-blocker? (The big storage compartment that sits up in between the 2 seats). If so, you could free up a bit more space by changing that for the later style non-sex blocker middle section which sits down at the same height as the seat squabs.
Don't have pics of either myself so just did a quick search online and turned up these from the US.

Non-sex blocker

(Note in the bottom pic this bloke has added a cut-out into the centre section so there's a pocket there for holding a spanner (apparently
