It's a H23A2 block/crankshaft/rods with a H22A7 head. :)
According to Rosko Racing (http://www.roskoracing.com/H23Vtec.html) compression will be 12,1:1 with ATR pistons.
I plan on using E85 so compression is still acceptable and manageable in my opinion.

Only thing is, I don't know how hard it is to match A7 pistons on H23 rods.

sounds very familiar to phil & my own build ;) but I decided against ATR pistons as I want less risk and im on a hugely tight budget :?

ATR pistons will work though, just you need to use the H23 rods and not the ATR rods. as long as the block stamp is the same as the piston stamp, your onto a winner id say!

Do you know why?
Detonation, bad tune?

Let's be clear, to install Type R pistons on H23A2 rods, you keep the piston as it is, you don't change the axis and the clips, you just modify the rod to allow the installation of the Type R axis?

Now I'm put my finger in it, I have loads of questions I'm sorry.

Are Type-S and Type-R pistons identical?

I'm sorry if the answers are on the forum already, in this case just submit a link and I'll read religiously. :ugeek:

Pretty sure ATR, TypeS and H22A8 pistons are all the same.

honestly mate, your best having a look on honda tech, way more info on there once you sift through the crap.

the jist i got was the atr pistons arent massively strong in that area and throwing alot of compression at them aswell as the increased piston speeds results in a poorly motor.

Donald, so you mean the H22A8 offer the same bhp as a JDM H22 but with higher compression pistons? Weird. I'm not saying it's wrong, I don't have a clue about it.

4thgenphil thanks I'll take a deeper look on HT.

H22A8 is mapped to put out 197bhp, but shares the same compression ratio as the TypeS (and I presume the ATR), 11.0:1. AFAIK the JDM H22A (excl. TypeS and S-Spec) is 10.6:1, again mapped to 197bhp.

Why don't you save yourself a lot of hassle and buy my H22A8  I'll give you a discount considering you'll need to remove it from the car.
