I'm afraid its all made in china, they claim their strut braces and tie bars are UK made....but they look identical to Chinese made ones too.

I've met suppliers who deal in replica parts in China and some supplier tegiwa, and I could get the same wheel nuts as the tegiwa ones (probably manufactured in the same factory) and have the lude generation logo out on them instead of tegiwa.

I hate them and their jobby customer service.

I don't think it's the branding, but the finish in general. I think it's a simular process to chroming, so it just corrodes, especially when you put a lot of the surface area under extreme compression when you tighten/untighten them.

oh yeah the quality of the metal is there and they feel really strong. Just don't like the fact they look all rusty after a couple of times they have been taken on and off after paying over £50 for them.

I was just going to give mine a good wirebrushing and then treat them with Krust, which will obviously stain the corroded areas black, but might have a cool effect. I'll pop pictures up when I come to do it as I'm hopefully going to be purchasing some new wheels soon and will need them ;-)

Well from the last time i posted in this thread iv been using the Type S. 16 of my lug nuts are not in great condition but the 4 locking nuts are still mirror shiny after 2 years.

Mcgard chrome plating FTW plus they are the best locking nuts. Just ordered a set of 16 Mcgard Spline Drive tuner nuts and will get a set of the tuner locking nuts soon for new rim time.

Now they look like this about 4 months later

So basically I would not recommend D1 at all :)

I wouldn't paint them bud. Just leave yours as they are. At least they haven't corroded being aluminium. If you paint them, it will flake off as soon as you tighten them and then they'll look proper tatty.

Mine being steel and having corroded I was literally going to stain the corroded area, but I'd probably have to keep on top of them.

EDIT: For example, these are the steel brackets from my Sustec strut brace brackets once I'd stripped all the paint off them...

And then after I'd treated the rust before powder-coating...

I'd be a bit neater when I come to doing my nuts and probably wipe them down before it dries completely, but you get the idea.
