The catch is probably sticking. Check for gunk, especially in the spring.

You're right!! It looks like there's a lot of gunk there.

can I get a steam cleaner and clean that?? Or WD40?

I just poked mine with a stick - then poured petrol over it and left it for a while.

A light oil might help once it's clean.

Another epic fail.

My mum just threw away my JDM centre console with JDM cup holder thing. Yes that's right JDM jobby was thrown in the bin.

It's true! I cleared out the gunk with a stick, used petrol as a degreaser, and once the fuel had evaporated added a drop of 3-in-1 (or similar). The catch has worked properly ever since.
