Afternoon all. Bit of a mini update for the latest job done.
Brakes. They were getting pretty grimy and I had a suspicion the front left was dragging a bit so decided to pull them off and sort them out.
Took the fronts off and stripped them. Got all the old paint off and blasted them clean in the bead blaster. Then they were masked and given a coat of epoxy primer and a cherry red metallic, stencils applied in white and then a good coat of hydraulic fluid resistant hard lacquer. New seals in all greased up and back together and refitted.
Also took the shields off and blasted then. They were given a coat of 2 pack white with the same lacquer as on the brakes. I will probably regret doing them white but I though it looked better and I tend to keep the wheels and brakes spotless anyway.
Top tip for anyone trying to get rid of old brake caliper paint. Stick then in a saucepan full of water at about 70 degrees on the hob for half an hour. It was a tip from a mate which I didn't believe. It works!! Just melts the paint off and you can peel it away.
Just got the backs to do next.
Anyway. Pics.....

Fantastic. Great tip with frying brakes up. Do they help with hangover cures. Should replace the dirty black pudding.

Cheers Guys

What's left in the bottom of the pan IS the black pudding. Or you can strain it and shape it and sell it online as Genuine CialisRattyMcClelland wrote:Fantastic. Great tip with frying brakes up. Do they help with hangover cures. Should replace the dirty black pudding.
