Few more things done recently

Wednesday last week I went on a whim and decided to chop my front indicators in half ...



The idea was to convert the side reflectors to indicators instead... Like so...



So I sliced the backs of the reflectors off as well and gave them a good sand...



And simply glued them together with solvent weld ...



The end product looked like this...



Being a whim, I wasn't that prepared, so didin't have the vital amber bulbs ... so I improvised ...



... Yes, I sprayed them Milano red



They inserted like so...

And from slightly afar... look like this ...



And when lit... like this!...





Then Saturday came along. As some of you may remember, my OSF wheel was sat closer to the rear of the car than it should be. The wheel centres on that side measured a good inch/inch and a half out. It was quite obvious from this picture from when I first got the car...



I had an idea that it was the lower control arm that was bent (it's the only thing I could see it being) I took it to the garage and he couldn't tell, so I thought I was just gonna have to chance it. So, Saturday morning I went to a nearby scrappy. Long story short... Out of the hundreds and hundreds of cars they had there, the "only" Prelude they had was on the forklift when I got there about to have the driveshafts removed, so I only had to remove 3 bolts in the end I also managed to acquire a mint set of facelift nostrils and a spare cup holder And got everything for £15!!!

I got home and went about the removal of my existing lower arm straight away. Now check out how ridiculously bent the original arm was (the bottom one)...



Anyway, I fitted the new one and voila!.... Sorted ...




Sunday I replaced my old warn, flakey chromed facelift door handles...



With these puppies, courtesy of our very own debaser (cheers mate )...



Which are a vast improvement. I definately prefer the black on black ...



I also had time to mess about with my ducting again (I had a few bits left over) It now just falls short below the battery tray. The road to work is far too dirty for a low level intake!...




And then last night I got around to fitting the new facelift nostrils, which in the morning light, I think are a good improvement ...

Cheers mate. I hate the thought of paying someone to do what I probably could do myself.
With regards to the battery cable, I've pretty much just extended what was already there, and followed a simular "how to" that never mentioned a fuse If you know any different though, do say

i agree with digger, love the way you just have a go.
i aint all that techanically minded, as as my luck would have it too, everytime i goto fix something i end up breaking something else

but thats why i got the 2nd lude really, to just try everything myself.
as my grey lude is my daily i cant afford to have it off the road, but now i got the other 1 i can try my hand at anything really, and if its goes wrong or i should get stuck, it can be left to a later time and i can come on the forums for help

Looking very tidy from the front now. Couldn't get over the bent arm, explained your problem in a big way though!

Interesting mod with the indicators too, a first too! Opens up the air flow through the bumper. You could always add an air feed from the main indicator location now. I've seen the side ones done but the main bit is larger. In fact you can get pre-moulded rectangular scoops from places like Demon Tweeks which smooth off to one side to a tube. Would be perfect for this I reckon.

Plus feeds work better the short they are and the less bends you can put in them.

I'd love to have a 2nd lude to make a track car, but I know I'll always just drive the better car, so my money (allowance) may as well all go into just one car Besides I've still got my Mustangs to crack on with once I've done the house... Which still needs about 40 odd grand drummed into it... not to mention the 30 grand or so for the garage

I had the mouth of the air feed where you suggested for a few days after I'd done the indicator mod, but the road to work is just far to dirty. There was loads of dust on the inside of the chrome ducting just before the filter, so I thought best off removing it for now Shame though, as you really could notice the difference

regarding the fuse in the battery pos line....
when an amp is installed you run a power lead from the battery pos straight to the amp. this needs a fuse in it as close to the battery as possible. should there be any electrical issues the fuse will pop rather than setting fire to everything along the length of the pos lead. i would have thought your batt pos lead would have needed one too, being as long as it is?

i don't want to scare anyone, its something i thought of. maybe for peace of mind it would be worth asking the question at a garage?

I would think the bullet fuses that you use on an amp power cable would be perfect.
