Type S Intake with K plus N drop in filter *swap*
Post by Nik_L » Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:58 am
Just putting the feelers out to see if any1 (preferably Fife/Edinburgh area) would be interested in swapping their AEM V2 intake for my Type S intake with K+N drop in filter....
Would maybe consider other intakes, but no Ebay specials.
Reason i am asking for local-ish (within reasonable driving distance) is i use the car daily, and kind of need it on the road so would prefer to meet up and do a swap.
Nik.

Ask away lol.
The Type S intake was on the car when i got it. I just fancy trying the AEM out and seeing what its like.
Don't get me wrong, i love the factory look of the Type S intake, but also like to change stuff and make it my own.
From doing a bit of research, most folk are on the bench. Alot prefer the Type S, and alot prefer the AEM.

Figure-wise (and I've linked to this before somewhere) there was a honda-tech thread in which a guy dyno'd with a TypeS, V2 and I think AEM short ram... IIRC there was a difference of less than 2-2.5hp across all three.
Suppose it depends what final HP you're looking at.

imo if you like to mix it up a little and you would like some more noise you should seriously think about removing the resonance chamber from behind the bumper first. this is a massive chambered thingy that quietens the engine noise. take it off and hear the roar. engine feel much more free up the top of the revs.
IMO the AEM is a step down due to it drawing air from the hot engine bay. The h22 loves cold air and the type S (with resonator removed) gives the open feeling at the top end you want from a pipe but still takes air from outside the car. It will also affect your power curve negativly without a tune up.
You might find you get what you fancy with just three bolts being removed

LLL, i think there's a chance the resonator box thing might have been removed. IIRC, the car has had a few different intake's on it, including a hardpipe with a cone filter. So im assuming its been removed. Will have a look though and see.
Also, the manifold has been heat wrapped, so the under bonnet temps will be reduced quite a bit, in theory anyway.lol.
