In all seriousness I could have the engine fitted this weekend and be driving next week but it really needs an LSD and final drive, so I needs to save up. If push comes to shove I can forget/postpone an MF final drive and use the Prelude OEM from the M2P4 box I have spare. I still cant quite make up my mind between a Torsen/geared LSD like the Quaife or a clutch pack LSD like the Kaaz. I have read on the pro's and con's of both. I might be doing a deal with a guy on PUK for his Kazz 1.5 way.

Also the other thing is that while the engine is out im taking the opertunity to do a load of bits thet would otherwise be a lot harder. Paining the engine bay, wire tuck, thin out the wiring loom, welding the firewall back up etc... Also the engine needs painted, it's being done in gold with a Cassis read pearl rocker cover with gold lettering, in a black engine bay 8-)

Well you probably already know I'd do it exactly as you are. I can't be doing with constantly fitting and refitting bits and bobs. It's more expense and gives more likely hood for things getting damaged, so I believe in only doing things once. Although I do think I'll be leaving my custom gearbox until I've got the car back on the road as I'm not sure it's going to be back on the road before my 40th birthday otherwise

What final drive are you going for? M Factory?
I looked into those and thought they were discontinued?

Fastest Lap in 2012

Post by Merlin » Fri Feb 01, 2013 11:33 pm

On my last track day I did set my fastest recorded lap time so far in the 4G. Going by the vid it was a 1:06:17 :D The reason I'm pulling this out is that it will be good to compare once the new engine is in.

I know the lap I posted still has time in it as I was not on my semi slicks, and 2012 trackdays was rough on the car (radius rod nut failure & driveshafts) so was kind of taking a bit easier as well on the last track day.

Still, 66s isnt bad for a 20 year old car with 200 bhp  For comparison below is the lap times submitted by members of the track club :scaredtoss: Edit - Incidentally, in the list below is the time for my 4G before I did the suspension. The 1.08 is probably down to my poor driving as much as the jobby suspension.

Edit (May 2013) Found this lap when looking back at old vids. This lap was a 66s with a passenger and a full tank. Then the radius rod nut failed a few laps later.

The holy grail is beating a minute. But realistically I want to get 62-63s by the end of the year.
