Water leak in boot?
Oooooo .... shiny!
Water leak in boot?
Post by snike77 » Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:02 pm
Hi
I have a really unusual problem, i just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar,
My tyre well in the boot keeps filling up with water,
I have taken the spare out, and the boot floor, and dried the boot entirley, left for a few days only to find an inch or two of water in the boot well again???
I then again dried the boot out, and put a big sheet of cardboard in the boot to see if the water was dripping down from above, gave another few days, and lifted the cardboard up to find yet again another 2/3 inches of water in the boot well??? but no water marks on top of the cardboard???
there are no holes underneath either, i have even tried spraying some spray waterproof sealant on the inside of the boot well, but it has made no difference
So i have no idea where this water is coming from, but i want to get it sorted as when the water gets in it leaves a musty damp sort of smell in the car
Hopefully someone may have some idea or advice
Many thanks

its not that uncommon mate its just that most people never look under the carpet
it could also be from parking on an incline during heavy rain as the channels get flooded.
also if you have a rear window washer the tube to it can crack.
i have found if you have had your rear bumper removed at some point water can track in through the vent on the left hand side after it is replaced

Thanks for the help guys,
No i dont have a rear washer, and i dont think the rear bumper has ever been off,
As well as the water filling up at the bottom, i get a condensation like build up of moisture inside the boot lid too, but this just may be caused by the water in the tyre well???

yeah sounds like exactly what mines doing, ive even shown a friend who is a mechanic/MOT tester and he is unsure to what it is also,
i have read some stuff about the sunroof drain channels or something on here, so i dont know if thats where the problem lies,
but what i find most weird is that when i put the boot floor back in, there is no signs of water damage on the boot floor, but still the water has accumulated in the tyre well underneath???
