Well I took Sid for a ride down to the garage the other day, and it's a bit of a strange sensation to say the least. It's strange, cos I've ridden bikes countless times and never felt exposed, yet on a trike, you are very very aware that there is nothing around you at all. Got some great looks though :D

Important tests were done, and during those tests, it had pleasing results being that both back wheels light up during a burnout :D

Unfortunately, said tests revealed an issue of a buggered wheel bearing, so that's gotta be sorted before its MOT and reclassification. Definitely looking forwards to riding it into work though for the first time, that's for sure :D

All that is left now is:
- Rear wheel bearings
- Fit and set up handbrake
- Fit mudguards
- Wire in a hazard light switch
- Get it weighed
- MOT
- Reclassification for tax

Realistic prediction - should be all done and on the road fully by the end of January if not a bit sooner.

Got the wheel bearing kit turn up at my mates garage today, along with the handbrake kit, so will get started on all that on Saturday.

Also, got my shallow wheel nuts arrive too, so I can fit my PCD adapters / 1" spacers, and as a result of fitting them, the dog guard out my old Volvo 940 estate now fits perfectly between the wheels, so this will be mounted to the frame of the rear rack, and also have the rear arches mounted to it as well. Actually really like the look of it too. Glad I didn't throw it away when I got rid of the Volvo now!

Yea, trikes need a handbrake by law. Handbrake turns are not advised though. Lol

Built at last!!!

Post by Crazy_C » Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:47 pm

At long last, it's all built!! There's a couple of bits that still need doing, such as stiffening up the rear end as the rear wheels rub on the dog guard at the moment when the suspension drops down, and wider bars to make steering a bit easier along with a damper to eliminate some of the wobble when one rear wheel hits a bump, but it's all good.

Just weighting, MOT and reclassification left now!

Enjoy some pics:

Cheers mate. It's great fun riding it, just a bit wobbly when one back wheel hits a bump, but will soon get used to that.

Weighed

Post by Crazy_C » Tue Jan 22, 2013 9:21 pm

Sid got his fat arse weighed today, and he came in at a nice, healthy 320kg, only 55kg heavier than when he was a bike. This also gives him a power to weight ratio of about 280bhp/ton, so not bad at all really.

I ordered a 56L top box with a pillion back rest, and that turned up the other day and I got that fitted today too, and it looks spot on, fits my lid, and is quite comfy too when I tried sitting on the pillion seat.

So anyone who wants to ride bitch, you've got a back rest

Bill Of Health!

Post by Crazy_C » Wed Jan 30, 2013 9:49 pm

Well Sid got his 12 month bill of health certificate today. Took it for the MOT yesterday, failed on the headlamp being insecure as I forgot to secure the lower part of the headlamp. Quick fix, took it for the retest this morning, and went straight through.

Now it's just the tax to sort out. Down the local office tomorrow and see if I can get a trike tax disc there and then.
