Hey all!
Finally clubbed enough cash together to fit my hand refurbed alloys to the tyres i bought, and get them fitted. Tegiwa lug nuts and self made centre caps complete the look
I also got an alignment check done as well as i knew it was way off. Here are the results:
I am quite pleased with the results for several reasons;
The wheels that were on it before looked ok from 6 feet away, but up close they were horrendous. They were also 18 inch, running on 215/35/18 tyres which were probably illegal.
I was a bit worried that dropping 2 sizes would damage the look of the car, but i think that it looks fine now. I can report that the steering feels much lighter and more natural compared to running on the 18's. I did a quick weighing of the wheels/tyres before and after fitting and found that the 16's running 225/45/16 are 3.5kg lighter than the 18's with tyres. Pretty massive difference

For reference the 16's weighed 8.9kg.
The thicker sidewall has made the ride much less harsh and very pleased that my fillings may stay in a bit longer now

Havn't had a chance to test the full handling power of the Conti Sport Contacts due to adverse road conditions but i can already accelerate much cleaner from a standing start. Tyre roar has increased though
Also, the alignment check has done wonders. The car no longer pulls to the left and the shuddering under braking has disappeared. So, my fears of warped discs have been put to bed
Lastly, this marks the last thing i wanted to do before getting the ATTS looked at. As the 18's ran slightly different tyre profiles from front to back, the ATTS was never going to work. Now we have an even balance and roadholding sorted, it's time to unleash the true firepower of the Type S
