Your timing is good. From a post on PUK today showing the leaking clutch master cylinder:
sleepy wrote:Thanks for the reply. The fluid level looks ok, maybe 3/4" above the min line, pretty dark looking though - I know it hasn't been changed for a good few years.... I've had a good look round the engine bay, following the clutch pipes wherever I could, no leaks as far as I could see.
However... a look inside behind the pedals revealed this:
Pretty clear evidence I need a new master cylinder I think?

Lesson no.3:
The fluid is basically concentrated anti-freeze. It will wreck your paint & carpet.
The good news is that water dilutes it (which is why you always use a fresh, unopened container) so it's recommended you peel the carpet back & clean up the mess with water & absorbent towels.

Yeah when this happened to me last year it was the clutch slave cylinder which sits on the front of the gearbox and from memory it cost about £20 to get a replacement and it was very easy to fit with my fairly basic skillz.

You guys are life savers, I appreciate all the help.
I will clean it all up and get it back on road by the weekend as soon as my part arrives.
Now i need to decide if i keep the lude. Reason is Recently the girlfriend and I split up and I'm living at my sisters until i find a place in the new year. May need something more "trustworthy"

My lude is my only car, and my daily drive. Has proven a damn sight more trustworthy than most modern cars my mates have! Knowledge is available and parts are generally plentiful. It's a good place to be man!

You wont find any car more trust worthy than a Honda. I've had mine 11yrs. Only thing which will stop it (if you take care of the servicing) is the coil pack, then its the main fuel relay after that. All easily fixed.
Your clutch master cylinder is also known to fail, but Blueprint do one which is identical to the genuine part.
In 11 yrs the only fails have been.
Distributor coil packs x 3
Clutch Master cylinder x 1
That is it.
