Brakes - my brain hurts

Hi,
Just got my 5th gen VTI prelude back on the road after year 3/4 year SORN. (flew through MOT with full service - fantastic cars these). Once advisory for at some point in near future is all discs/pads should be done.

I don't do track days but also I'm tired of shelling out a fortune at Honda.

Has anyone tried these?

From what I have been reading - as I don't do track days I don't need to go all out, so Brembo are a pretty reliable make but cannot find Brembo rears for 5th. Anyone tried Ferodo? or has a favourite source for discs/pads

Ferodo are very good brakes, well they certainly make good pads!

What about blue print? Fastparts (south wales) can get blue print discs & pads for every corner for not much over £100

IIRC

£25 rear discs
£20 rear pads
£50 front discs
£25 front pads

I think the main two people seem to go for are EBC and Ferodo? Got EBC blank discs and Redstuff pads in a deal a while back and can't fault them tbh.

I have the brembo blanks on front

used to have black diamond grooved and not much difference, only they havnt warped yet

if you dont want to break the bank brembo are pretty much oem, which is good thing

Never had a problem with cheap discs & pads for normal road use. Only needed up-rated stuff on track.

Therefore imho these would be fine;

^^ indeed.
that's pretty much what i've just done, although only on the rears. Can't see why you'd need big fancy brakes and discs for normal road use, especially on the rears. I got both rear discs for £52 off ebay. Works just fine!
I might consider upgrading the fronts, alot of people on here seem to rate the ATR upgrade, so i'll wait and see what @CARRisma has to say about that when he's finished!
And yeah, everyone seems to rate the Ferodo pads very highly.

I have Blueprint discs & Mintex road pads on my Prelude. They are fine for road use but would uprate them for track days as you do get brake fade under hard braking for long durations.

If you want to spend a bit more a lot of people say drilled/grooved discs are a waste of money, so a good set of vented discs and EBC Red Stuff pads or Mintex 1144's (which seem to get good reviews but can be a bit hard to find)

Also my mate swears by StopTech pads so you might want to look into those.

It really boils down to cost and what they will be used for. Also bear in mind track pads take a bit of warming up to work properly so that can give you brown trousers if you are not used to them!! (Brake... nothing there, nothing there and.... almost through the windscreen!!!)

Please do not take an rubbish pads or discs because they're cheap.
Were talking about safety en you should rely on the things that are good.

Ferodo maken very well pads, as well as EBC and of course OEM Honda.
For discs, you could use Stoptech, EBC, OEM Honda, Brembo or something that has made name.

Do your research and don't fool yourself. Otherwise you'll end up buying new pads/discs in a few months, because your pads were bad of your discs are bent.

Thanks guys,
Just taken the lude out for its first longer distance run in ages (Sandhurst to Leicester) Brakes seem ok even in wet will still replace soon though.
Think I might just go with the all in one package - god bless ebay.
