They're just splash guards to keep crap off. I've lost one already on the front to metal erosion - no ill effects from losing it so far!

I guess the're there for two reason... To prevent crap and water flicking up on to the discs, but I imagine they also help disperse the heat build up as well... Maybe :?

I'd be interested to see a decent response to this as well as I may need to remove/hack up my fronts anyway.

they shield the hub from dirt and aid in cooling the discs

As above really.

Only thing to add, I know they are pretty light, but it's unsprung weight?

I'd say loose them for your car.

i will say keep them, as they weigh next to nothing, and they are there to keep back of your discs protected

are you talking about the plastic guard that is attached to the rear caliper :?
id keep them on - the rear brakes are a pain as it is without extra crap getting in there :)

if your talking about splash guards then lose them if you like - id dont see the problem - ive removed both front and back on mine :)

I'd keep them, there's no benefit in removing them and the're there for a reason.
