3rd gen 4ws track rod question.

Post by misterg » Thu Nov 01, 2012 5:59 pm

Hi I'm Luke and I drive a 91 BA4 prelude. At the moment its off the road for all sorts of treats as its planned to be a fast road car project.

I need to replace the rear 4ws track rods as a bolt sheared whilst breaking down the rear end for new ball joints and wheel bearings, which brings me to my question

Does anyone know if 3g rear track rods are the same as 4g? I've bought about three different ones listed from davmac etc now but the thread and pitch are too small to fit. If they're the same I read vectra b rods will fit.

pic of me Lude sorry about orientation lol

Hi Luke and welcome.

I discovered the fitment of the vectra rod end for the 4th gen by using ebay.

Measure the diameter and pitch that you need, then search ebay for 'track rod m14 1.5' or whatever it is, make sure you click the check box that also searches the item description.

Some of the listings have this information as a copy of the data sheet in the description, this will let you discover which other rod ends will fit, then you can simply search for that specifically to get the best price.

Example......http://www.ebay.co.uk/dsc/i.html?LH_Tit ... nd+m14+1.5

Thanks for the speedy and informative reply. I'll get on the case. I'll try and update a little build thread as things get going. Thanks!

Ok I've found the part online. Here is the info.

http://yec-auto.com/exec/product.php?mo ... TRE_H&lg=S

The genuine part number is 53550-SF1-004. It states on the above link that the thread is m14x1.5 so I've gone ahead and ordered the vectra b rods, because the genuine part is mega pricey and only available over seas.

Should be here next week so ill update then.

Vectra B track rods fit the BA4.

Thanks for everyones help. here are a few more pictures of how my prelude sat before.

The plans are for more of the same, some arch welding, more lows, more racey interior and exhaust/cold air feed mods.
