Alternative to Nitromors paint stripper?
Post by CARRisma » Tue Oct 30, 2012 9:23 pm
So, I've got a JDM / USDM spec front lip to replace the Motegi front lip on my 5G Lude. I wanna completely strip it, but rather strangely Nitromors is having no or little effect. Are there any effective alternatives?

I haven't got sand blasting facilities in my dad's shed.
Might have to go the sand paper route, but wanna try something less labour intensive first.
Gonna give brake fluid a go, but I doubt that will work if Nitromors isn't working.
I did think of Ratty, our resident bodywork and ICE guru, maybe he'll pop his head in and will give us his opinion soon.

Wikes stuff is crap and i would use it on plastic. Dont sandblast.
Just go in with 120grit sand paper on a block. I used Abranet. Followed by 180grit and then 400grit.
Then prime.
Its a lip so wont take long.

Worked well on everything I've used it on, but didn't think about the fact that Carry's lip is plasticRattyMcClelland wrote:Wikes stuff is crap and i would use it on plastic.

I'm assuming you meant "wouldn't" use it on plastic?

i wouldnt use anything other than sand paper imo. if its got paint on it already use it as an undercoat. i wouldnt go at it with 180 though. 400-600 would be the corsest i would start with.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

is it plastic or is it fibreglass ? if its fibreglass i def wouldn't use nitromorse i do believe it gets into the resin and causes all sorts of problems when you try to paint over it.
if it aint broke don't fix it https://www.facebook.com/pages/tram-roa ... 8502699270
