No 4ws light. Not the usual issue

It certianly wont casue any harm to look over both the fuse boxes to see if any fuses have blown.
Can you answer these questions to clear up what you have or havent tried?
Is the 4WS unit present under the rear of the car?
Is the 4WS ECU in the boot behind the side cover?
Has the dash bulb been replaced with a known working bulb?
When driving the car slowly (lower than 10mph) and turn at full lock, does the rear wheels turn at all?
Is the ABS light on?
Have you pulled the ABS codes? as im sure the ABS shares some sensors with the 4WS
Can you answer these questions to clear up what you have or havent tried?

Have you pulled the ABS codes? as im sure the ABS shares some sensors with the 4WS - No ABS error (see above)

Or dive forward slowly and hang out of the drivers door

Just to note as well, when you turn full lock to get the rear wheels to turn, if you get out and leave the car running the rear wheels actually reset to forward position after a while. So don't turn full lock and faff around inside for ages if you're gonna get out to look, cos you might miss it

UPDATE
And then there was light, and I did see it, and it wasn't good.
Pulled the ECU out of the boot. The previous wanker owner had snipped two wires, crossed one set over and rejoined them
and then pulled the plugs out of the ECU.
As you can see from the photos below, hopefully, the grey/white and grey/black wires were snipped. Two of them (not the same ones) were then rejoined (under the black tape), the other were just left hanging. Any ideas what the cables are for?


Once I botched a quick repair, and did the paperclip trick I recorded the error code. I think it's an error 20. What do you think?
I did the reset and it worked, temporarily. I can turn the wheels to left lock but when I turn them even 45 degrees to the right I get the 4ws light come back on immediately. I tested the 4ws to the left after reset and it worked beautifully.



What do the collective think the problem could be?
Could it be the sensor on the steering wheel boss?
Could it be anything else?
Where/what is the front sub-steering angle sensor, where is it and could there be an easy fix?
