Re: GB-lude project, pic heavy
Here we go again!
PLASTI DIPPED my wheels! !
Cleaned them up real good, sanded down some small bits and degreased them.
Used a playing cards not to get the overspray on the tires.. But the second rim I wanted to do didn't have enough space between the tire and the rim.. so what the hell..
here are the pics, they don't do the metalizer much justice at all..
Cleaned and ready:

First coat:

second:

By now it covers allmost everything so won't post the same pic.
I did 5 coats on every wheel, waited between 5 and 10 min beteen coats.
Started doing one and as that was drying I prepared and sprayed the the second than the first again. etc etc.
Smell was quite bad so moved it all outside:

The black turns into a deep matt black when it dries.
After a good 1 1/2 hour I finished the last rim and let it dry for 30 min.
Then started with the metalizer spray.
Had to be very carefull as you can easy spray too much of it and it will start dripping or the metalic flakes gets to dense.
I just wanted to get a little bit of a titanium look.
first one:

Difference :
left with "metalizer" right without

on the car:

The "big picture"

I like the results and might apply a few more coats of metalizer to brighten up the wheels a bit.
The car looks really dark now but with some (only a few slick looking) stickers it will be cool.
NOTE: these are my track wheels!
NEXT:
can't put it off any longer: the interior
@ Nathan, used only 1 1/2 can! five coats each wheel! so thats great, got some spare cans left to do other things and do them over when they get damaged! (or do the rims on my 5th
)

Well I'm certainly happy with the results!
Can't believe that's just one and a half cans as well. Two should easily do it or me then. They look great, and your car looks so meeeeeeeeeeeeeean!
EDIT: Actually, you wouldn't want to sell me 2 of your remaining 3 cans would you?
Everywhere is out of stock!

Re: GB-lude project, plastidip page 7
@ Nathan, Serious? out of stock? Problem with me sending them from Holland is the shipment costs.. and to be honest I rather keep them for either my other set of wheels or a respray.. ( see next answer)
@ Ratty and Gorgon, I really don't know! Think its worth a try and haven't heard much problems with it just yet.
Must say I do not think it will survive a tire change so with the power I'm gonna put down they probably won't last that long!
Edit: just checked the availability in the shop I got them from and they are sold out aswell..
Glad I got some extra.. sorry Nathan..
