supose you could place a dehumdifier inside the bag before sealing it up, running on a timer - say once a week

woder if its possible to get some kind of moisture counter to switch on the dehumidifier, infact if you really put some thought into it, theres loads you could do with the bag idea

i honestly think silica gel is the best option. its cheap and very effective at soaking up air born moisture in a sealed enviro.

i think the bag is more than i want to spend but its a cool idea. they do an outside one too. its silver

The thing you're talking about is called a hygrometer. Used all the time in vivariums to monitor humidity levels needed for reptiles

There are fancy hygrometers with a switch system in place that will ADD moisture via an appropriate vessel when certain parameters are breached, so as not to create too dry an atmosphere for say, an exotic rainforest species. I'm sure there would be a way to reverse this and link it to a dehumidifier, unless of course there's a dehumidifier with this tech already.

I bought 5 dehumidifiers and bugger me up the bum they were packed with water over winter.
One in each footwell. One on the rear shelf, one on the centre arm rest and one in the boot. All were full after 6 months.

If your serious about long term storage in a rust free environment then you need one of these "Permabag". Do a google search. I had one for storing a CRX - worked perfectly. You park it on the cover - put the canisters inside the car - and underneath - then zip it up. The hygrometer is built into the side of the cover so you can ensure the humidity is <50%. If it goes under, you simply stick the canisters in the oven for half an hour and replace. Nothing simpler to use.
