Let get back on track shall we.

MORE DEADENING

Because im running an infinite baffle sub i need to completely seal the front and rear waves off from each other so iv used deadening to cover all holes etc around the rear.
So iv added and sealed more panels with Silent coat.

Nice and weighty now.

Then i got some 3m Acoustic thinsultate. Iv got 2 10x1.5m roles sticky backed for just over £100. :geek:
This should cut all airbourne road and wind noise that the AD08s produce.
And its weights about 5 kg for both rolls.

Just got the boot and front wing arch linnings to do now as all road noise is comming from the front.

Also iv sold the Mcintosh MX406 and removed the Arc Audio DXE as i now have a Clarion HX-D2 for all my processing plus its lighter as i have no outboard processors so i made up some more RCA and ran them down the length of the car.

Is there anyway you can tell how much road/wind noise you've blocked with the deadening?

Well tyres make the biggest difference to road noise. Im running Yoko AD08 and they are very very loud hard tyres but the grip/feedback benefits far outweight the noise.

The stick on mat deadening will quieten the car but it mainly reduces panel resonance so metal wont vibrate.

BUT all i can say is

Road noise in the rear has all but gone with the thinsulate.

I can very much hear all road noise is comming from the front now and i dont want to deaden the firewall as i like to hear the engine. So im going to add the thinsulate to the inner part of the arch linnings. Its waterproof but in there water will be minimal anyway.

Car is quiet with very little wight added overall. Including the sound system iv probably added 40kg max spread around the car.
