Low Fuel Warning Light - Not Working

Hi,

I am assuming that since my low fuel warning light no longer lights up on the ignition key start with the other warning lights that its just the bulb which is blown. So, I'm wanting to replace the bulb. Fuel gauge works fine.

I have a spare dash console to look at and the bulbs are twist in T6.5 (286) bulbs 18mm in length and are rated at 3W. I know I could swap it out with one of the spares I have, but then that would be an old bulb too which could go anytime.

So can I....
1. Replace it with a 12V LED equivolent although rated at less then 3W - would this burn out or be ok / would an LED bulb GLOW ok like the std bulb does?
or
2. replace with a std 3W bulb. I cant find any 3W versions of this bulb on the bay at all? Lots of 1.2 and 2.3W bulbs - NO 3W anywhere.

Any help or pointers appreciated...

Does the fuel light come on? I dont think it does

Mine hasn't come on, even when right down to the last segment.

Really? Are you saying yours has never worked?

It glows dimmly when down to the last 2 bars or so, and becomes a solid ON not much after that...

Mine just stopped working a while ago....

No. Im saying that the fuel ligh doesnt come on at ignition II with all the other lights in either my 5th or 4th.

Ahh... I did wonder...

I assume your 4th gen low fuel light is working though on low fuel then, even if it doesn't light up on ign?

Is this correct then?

This isn't my dash... just a pic of the light pattern on the 4th gen. There could be some options on there I dont have...

Mine doesn't light up with the dash, and the gauge is just resting on "E" at the moment and it isn't on.

Bulb is OK. Apparently its on a separate circuit/sender to the main gauge, anyone know if it has its own fuse?
