Thanks for your comments guys....I'll keep posting if the interest is still there. I wish I could update more often if I'm honest but well I wouldn't want to spoil you lot and Rome wasn't built in a day

LOL and me...genuinely!!! I just didn't realise quite by how much until I just looked back through the pics
It's only the redness that bugs me though...the pedals are/have always been just right for my driving style/position/big feet

I was going to do that anyway even if you say NO! love to buy your car after you finished with it... if you ever are.. and if you did sell but i would love to buy it but think the price maybe a bit high as with what amazing work been put into it

hey im not expecting to see it in final development. tweeking is done in private.
i just want to cheer from the sidelines with all the other puk members that can make it during its first few outings in race mode. i think its going to be very rewarding to the forum to follow this car. all the way to the winners podium

Love the detail going into this build - I bet you've been wanting to do all this stuff for ages - building up all your ideas for years. What it is to have the knowledge, time and dedication to pull this off. Bet you can't wait for it's first outing on the track - James puts it nicely /\ Hope I'm there to see it.

A few Q's if you don't mind bud:

1) Where did you order your copper/nickel brake lines from? I'll be doing my lines soon to ditch the ABS and was debating on braided as you say, or even stainless steel lines. The later being expensive and tough to flare properly. Also what flare nuts - look like stainless items???

2) How much was the flocking of the dash if you don't mind? Was it 1mm or 2mm and is anyone better? Interesting colour choices on their site - Light Rose colour (Pink) looks um...interesting.
Thinking for door cards in the future, unless it works out as more than carbon fibre sheets. In fact - another Q - where do you get all your carbon sheeting to?

3) And lastly...is that a 12V bathroom extractor fan you've used under the dash?
I swear I installed the same one on my bathroom overhaul last month!

Oh and I swear I read on one of your pages about DC2 front strut forks being the same fitment as the ludes but 10mm shorter? That right? If so, for an extra 10mm lowering on my front would there be any adverse effects that you know of? If so you have those DC2 ones lying around?

Well that was a task and a half !!!!

As it looks like Fotopic (and my galleries) are not coming back I have now re-hosted all the relevant pictures and gone through the whole thread to edit all my posts so they now bring up the images from the new host.

Sorry it's taken so long but for the first 6 months or so it was looking likely that Fotopic would come back (under new ownership) with all galleries (and hence links) in tact.

So I'm sorry to say that the Prelude has pretty much just sat under a cover for most of last year with only a few bits of work done here and there, nothing really substantial unfortunately.

Although....having said that you could then go on to say that well the "test mule" engine that was due to go in the Lude is finished and has proven itself all year in the Teg. Also so has the gearbox. Built, tried, tested and strong and can quite easily be dropped into the Lude.
I might very well put together the engine and gearbox build updates for this thread as well then


Anyway, so not 100% sure what I am doing this year yet as far as the racing goes. My head is telling me to get another season out of the Teg especially now it's nearly 100kg lighter than last year but my heart is telling me to sell the Teg and spend the money and time on the Lude instead.

thats some pritty trophy wear you got there It gives a guy confidence in the quality of your work to keep coming back. the baubauls dont actually matter. its the reality that everyone else is trying to keep up

LOL, I wish the decision was as simple as all that mate. Racing's in the blood and it got well and truly re-kindled last year.
It's not like I'm giving up on the Lude, hell that'll never happen!!!!!

The tins are nice for sure but it would be nicer if we got some nice big cash bonuses for wins instead

Yeah still around that's for sure...just not making any progress on the Lude

The Civic rub and the quarter panel damage are two separate incidents.
BTCC Civic was Charlie Butler-Henderson at Silverstone - was just a gentle nudge with only some scuffed paint to show for it. It pushed me wide enough for him to get through, however I went on to pass him around the outside at Woodcote and going on to win

Quarter panel damage was a multi car incident at turn 1 at Croft - 35 cars just don't funnel down into a narrow 90deg right hander too well
I started 3rd on the grid, got shuffled up and spat out of turn 1 into the gravel which I managed to plough through and out the other side. Rejoined in 14th with a odd handling car but managed to claw back up to 5th overall and 1st in class which I was very happy with.

Um, yeah, interesting circuit is croft, stupid bloody first corner, was always carnage to watch is touring cars. I never had too many offs where the handling didn't feel good, but you always think something feels different. I have, however, had enough starts like that where i somehow end up the worst off with someone elses mess

States is pretty good, i'm enjoying life here. Though it's tougher this year as i'm the only earner, wife's gone back to college for a year

However, i'm driving a nice car Can't find Preludes as a general rule here in the NW, but when you do, they've been riced

So i have this now (Mustang was nice for a year, but it's a shed no doubt)

LOL yeah you could say it was satisfying...especially as it was the car's first outing on track with only my base "race" setting dialled in

Yeah Croft is notorious for first corner "incidents" but is a superb circuit and I've always loved it there. As soon as I re-joined the circuit and got onto the back straight I knew something was bent when the steering was pulling and had to hold wheel at about 20deg from dead ahead to keep in a straight line. TBH it wasn't until the end of the race in parc feme that I clocked how bad the damage was. Later measurements showed a bent rear trailing arm which was giving me 8mm of toe out on the n/s/r

Glad to hear things are good for you out there, must always have been a worry as it is such a big step to jump ship to another country. Just a shame you can't find a decent Lude out there and you've had to resort to buying a Datsun
BTW... I see you've slipped into using some nasty americanisms already.... "been riced" ....tut tut ut

Yeah, sometimes it's amazing just how much damage can be caused, yet still can be raced on, despite the difficulty.

Yeah yeah, Datsun etc I have to say though, reminds me so much of the Prelude, which is something i never felt with the Mustang, it was a nice V8, but the driving was so very standard, no refinement.

It's beginning to get difficult with yanky doodle english and the real thing mixing, i have to speak their language to fit in more easily, so i now speak a nasty mix of both if i'm not concious about it

Well waddya know.... it's another wee update

As many of you know I kinda started a trend way back in 2004 by removing the power steering on my Prelude to generate more steering feel and weight it up a little.
I wrote a guide for Honda Revs back in the day, also I put the guide up on my Fotopic site and I know quite a few have found it useful for carrying out this mod themselves to their Prelude and in fact other Hondas as well.

Well that guide has now and truly been fully updated - We now have a stage 1 and stage 2 PAS removal

In summary, ever since I first carried out the conversion I vowed I would never go back to having PAS on the Lude especially as a track car. Yes the low speed steering effort was quite high (this was reduced by running a decent amount of neg camber) and yes the mid corner loading might not be everyones cup of tea but the massive improvement in feedback and feel for grip levels more than compensated for the small vices.
Some suggested that the heavier steering would cause issues if the car was in a slide and you needed to apply opposite lock quickly but this proved to simply not be the case...if anything you could feel the slide starting earlier through steering weight change.
Anyway, years on and it's not that uncommon a modification to Preludes, Civics and Integras these days...I've carried out this mod many many times and I think only one person ever sort of regretted it...the rest just simply loved it.

just wondering why nobody seems to use the electric column from the corsa b/c on a prelude after removing the power steering.
apart from the weight saving and extra bhp from removing the pump i understand its for better feel but surely it must be a right bugger for slow driving requiring arms like garth.
benefits with the electric column is it can be either taken off a wheel sensor for less assistance as your speed increases or on a resistor switch to get whatever feel you want as im sure you already know. so why doesnt anybody use them ?
i've fitted a few of them to escorts for rallying and it works well.
