Anyone recommend a good paint for my block and cylinder head on my accord h22 conversion, as you can see in the pic it looks a bit rough

I used strong acid to clean up all the white deposits and rust first, with a stiff wire brush. Took a good couple of hours, then washed off with a hose pipe. Then I painted the block with Simoniz Engine Enamel - Aerosol Aluminium. Looks pretty good, like bright new aluminium. Has lasted well and is pretty tough.
For the head, mine wasn't too corroded so a few washes with acid brought it back up nice. So I just sealed it with autoglym alloy wheel seal. I thought I'd need to acid wash and re-apply every few months but it's lasted about a year and still looks shiny

Alloy wheel cleaner, rust remover, or just search ebay for phosphoric acid or metal cleaner. It's all the same shyte. O don't forget to wear gloves and eye protection or it'll sting like the morning after a vindaloo.NafemanNathan wrote:A "Strong" acid?
Just took a couple of pix for you... I've never cleaned it so that's a year of dirt

I've used Gunk Engine degreaser, work it in with a brush and toothbrush for the small crevices. Wash off with water too, dry, mask up and paint. The same as Judderod I used Simoniz Engine Enamel - in black though for me! Gives a real nice glossy finish. They have a range of finishes, the classic is the aluminium effect one.
