Tappy/clicky/rattly noise from engine

my guess is still some heat shield when it comes loose it makes some weird arse noises

Just heard from Rich at PAW.

The noise is the bearing in the water pump are shot!

Good job it was in for a cambelt change and I asked him to look at what might be causing this noise!

could be worse and as it was getting a belt change anyhow not really an issue at all!

yeah thats good news for you Gayno
the noise i have is very similar and i fitted a new water pump when i did the belts a few months back - when i fitted the new pump i left off the little rubber bit that clips over one edge-im thinking that might be my issue either that or the bearings in the new pump are faulty. I wonder if that rubber part is there to absorb vibration

Gald you have it sorted. It sounds exactly like the noise my 5th gen is making. Its only started making the noise a week ago

I'm getting exactly the same tinkling/rattling noise I mentioned my Prelude had, but from the engine of my Xsara now too

wtf is there something contagious that my Honda has or something

It's coming from the driver's side in the Xsara, need to check if that's where the belts are. Has anyone else had a sort of jingling noise coming from the belt side of their Preludes? It only seems to be as the engine revs up under load

It's not doing my nerves any good
