Hi All
I am looking to do a track day very soon but not to sure where to book.
I was looking to do the Bedford Autodrome as its quite near to me
I was looking at these people and booking a novice day as i havent done a track day before

Yeh the H.O.T lot are a great bunch and will show you the way. i havnt used the Clubmsv people but it doesnt really matter who you go with, ive been with a few different ones.
For a trackday you need to make sure everything is bolten down correctly, nothing hanging off, then check your oil is topped up, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, tyres are inflated correctly (unless you have a different set for the day which is highly advisable!), wheel nuts are tight on, no big holes in your exhaust (that may fail noise test), check your brake disks and pads, and also that you have breakdown cover if really need be.
When going to the track day take:
tools
jack
driving licence (card and paper)
helmet (borrow one if poss, saves you money)
a friend, hopefully in separate car, for support and so they can take pics/film
spare fuel
butties & drink
spare oil and water
im sure other people can add to this list as im sure ive missed stuff lol
and on your first day, don't go hell for leather straight away, get used to the car, the track, the best braking points and the best driving lines etc and above all, have a laugh cos it's great fun

What if the breaks down on track? Do the track people recover you? Do they charge you for reocvery?
What about insurance? Due to it being a controlled environment is addtional insurance nessarsary?
Very excited but real scared in case anything happens to the Lude

Insurance is optional, simply up to you, its not a nessessary requirement. breakdown wise, the breakdown people will not recover you from the track itself or from the grounds, you'd have to push the car well outside of the track grounds then play innocent lol
but you've got nothing to worry about, as long as the lude is pretty well serviced you'd be fine

oh and do an oil change after the trackday, always a good one to do!

I notice people make tow hooks more accessible
is this so they dont go ripping off your bumper etc...
lidl sell motorcycle helmets for £40, since its for a car thought it was ideal

good point - they will say in the breifing "make sure you have a visible tow hook"..... they never check this, but a nice tow hook always looks good, and put a TOW sticker next to it as wellLude-dude wrote:I notice people make tow hooks more accessible

Hmmm - you got me thinking now about a tow hook. THe standard tow hook on the prelude is very small and not very obvious
Where would an after market tow hook fit on a 5th Gen. I have never seen one one a 5th gen before. I can install it on before and remove it when the track day is done and save it for another track day. Just wondering where it would go

Difficult to see in this pic but my black tow hook is below the rear plate.
Its attached to the OEM rear hook via 2 bolts, one goes though the hook and one goes on the outside.
The hook will pivot up and down with force but since your pulling the car its irrelevant.
Also i used my van and pulled the S off my drive with it so it works.
