Cheers dude!

Grabbed myself a used (but very nearly new) Exedy clutch and Fidanza 8lb flywheel combo on the cheap 8-) I need to cut as many corners on cost as possible to fund the bigger jobs (eg. roll cage), and it was a deal too good to let pass by

Dash and interior heater removed.

Post by Merlin » Mon Jul 23, 2012 10:03 am

To sort my interior coolant leak and to shed more weight, with the help of Vanzep, I removed the dash and all the crud behind it 8-)

Dash cover that will have to back on after more of it has been chopped away

With the dash out you can see the guts

The cause of my water leak, a nice stain from there the water has been pissing down the inside of the firewall and a load of sodden foam

Newkid sorted me out a a complete set of driveshafts which I'll be fitting before Total Jap Car next month. I had to go to Honda and get a couple of new set rings. As the bible says "Always use a new set ring whenever the driveshaft is being installed" Amen (The Bible 16-9).

Cheers. As we went we tagged all of the now defunct electrical connectors to make either my life or the job of a sparky easier to remove all of the useless wiring 8-)

It was very easy as I didnt jave the lower half of the dash in place anyway. TBH the biggest problem we had was disconnecting the indicator/wiper stalks, the bible tells you what screws to remove but not the technique of how to pop them out .

The dash out is also in preperation for the cage going in 8-)

I assume that since my BB4 didn't come with a passenger airbag that is the reason why I dont have a full length dash support bar?

...you wanna get that dash flocked..!!

Also, have you been weighing all the junk that you're removing? It would be interesting to see how much weight you have actually shed there, because that looks like a lot of parts!!!

I thought there should have been more tube work behind there! That's a good point about airbags.

Most of everything under there (all the aux heating/AC components and ducts) I've removed already, but it's more now for removing sound deadening and fixing engine bay components to the firewall. Then I'll obviously be slimming the dash down eventually as well.
