Painting Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield
Post by Vtecmec » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:39 pm
Anyone done this?
If so what paint did you use and how well did it hold up.
Most VHT spray paints seem to come with a matt finish, but I want a gloss finish.

I used CarPlan VHT paint in silver from my local motor factors - its lasted over a year so far with no issues. However its not glossy its just got a slight sheen....

Used Halfords own satin black regular spray paint twice. Works a treat, so I assume their gloss will hold up just as well

LO
I painted mine about 3 weeks ago with black mate stove paint from Halfords as it's up to 600 deg
Then noticed a bit has flaked off yesterday , so a bit
I'm going to just respray that part again and hope for the best
Cheers

Did you key the panel 1st? Most paints need a good key where some onto metal paints etch themselves. To be safe, key the panel with 600 or 800grit.toadster wrote:LO
