Re: LIttle Red Riding w/Black Hood
since saturday afternoon i decided to slowly start taking the hubs off the 5th gen for the 5 stud swap. but the rain made me have to stop so i came back today and just got stuck in. before i stopped to consider anything properly i realised the engine and box were held by only those 2 mounts,
i already took off the cross member and the steering rack was hanging on the the rear engine mount lol
and i took this pic before i thought it was too late.

i realised that the tyre isnt as supportave as the milk crate and have stacked up 3 bricks inside the tyre holding up the wooded pannel on the right on the end so the best areas are supported right. i hope

feeling quite pleased with myself since i have never done this before to this level and that everything so far has gone quite smooth. the engine is lowered and resting on the wooden board stood on the milk crate and 3 bricks on the other side
the only probs were the lower ball joints on each hub and they always seem to be the bain of my life but with a proper bray with a decent hammer they soon give in
power steering pump & resevoir have come off in 1 piece with the steering rack. thought i would keep it less messy for now.
nothing was snagged but i did cut the steering wire in the middle. productive day
think the install might take me more then 1 day

You have to loop the PS lines from your rack, and use the ATR VSS (which has no PS lines). This means you loose the speed sensitive nature of the standard PS, which means its heaver at town speeds, and is constant. (If you still have PS that is).4thgenphil wrote:right i havent done this yet, but i think you need the VSS from an atr, not sure if they are plug and play, dino is the man to askziyaan wrote:what do i need to change then
Here are a few pics of the work completed by Richy (PA)

Hope this helps.

Yes, its a bit weird at first but then you get used to it. To be honest the Lude's PS was very light in the first place so I'm not bothered.
Only downside, is that sometimes the PS motor makes a bit of a noise (moan) coz it's having to work a little harder at slow speeds(usually when parking in tight spots). But mine doesn't do it at all now. Richy, said its fine to run like this, and I have not had any problems.
