Good man! Pint time

Guys I've had a bit of a disaster
I went to work on the car today. I thought the bonnet was watertight, but it obviously wasn't... I didn't have the plenum chamber fitted to the inlet manifold as it made positioning the block/doing up engine mounts easier, and now all the runners are filled with water up to the butterfly plate
is that my engine written off?

I hope so... The piston block on my Golf had water standing in it when I was doing the cylinder head and it poured down overnight and that lived so maybe this will be ok. No, not drained it yet - my dad gave me a straw to suck the water out with
I can't think of any other way though. Might buy a fluid evacuator from halfrauds tomorrow.

Cheers guys, I think I'll be picking one of those hand pumps up tomorrow. Means I can empty the fuel tank too, god knows what that petrol will be like after standing for a year
On the plus side I got the rear mount done up with the help of my Dad and my brother. Now I just need to get a passenger mount fabricated and that's the block finally in. Although I did have to leave one bolt out the gearbox mount as there was no way to get it in
Another problem is I can't do the ball joints up, they just spin... Is there a tool for holding them? I'm thinking it might be worth replacing them whilst I have the chance as the car has done 116K and they look awful, especially after the fight I had undoing them, but is this a majorly difficult job?

Save your money and lust get some flexible tube and syphon it out. Just have the outlet lower than the inlet.

It'll be fine, when I dropped the tank on the lude, it had 20 litres in there stood for 2 years, not wanting to waste anything, I poured it into my other car's empty fuel tank, and it ran like a charm.jjmartin349571 wrote:Means I can empty the fuel tank too, god knows what that petrol will be like after standing for a year

I've got fish tank siphons here, I've drank enough fish tank water over the last year to know I'm bad at siphoning though
I'd rather use a hand pump this time
Interesting to hear about the petrol, for some reason I thought you weren't meant to use it after it was sitting for so long, sediment in the tank or something? Although there's a fuel filter in every car so not sure why the fuss lol.
