It's the 'springy' throttle response that bugs me - even with factory turbos.
Imagine a Prelude sticky throttle cable & a puffer; purgatory/scary!

I don't like the look of intercoolers in the engine bay. I like them in the front of the bumpers.RattyMcClelland wrote:Check THIS, TOUCH ME link out.

There are superchargers that run counter clockwise. Vortech do a range of them but it would be a case of build your own kit and it would be very costly. See the link below:

Very interesting thread! I love the d.i.y style supercharger builds huge respect to anyone that tries it.
I recon Alex is right that a low boost turbo set-up will be much more reliable and have better performance out of the box then a supercharger. There seems to be a bit of a Myth that a supercharger is easier on the FRM liners on our stock H22, I've not seen any evidence to say that a turbo set-up running same boost is any more or less dangerous then a supercharger. It just seems to be that supercharger people generally run less boost.
I would IMO that a safer option with a Stock H22 is to run a nicely intercooled turbo at 5psi then an unintercooled superchargers such as the JSRC at 5psi. At least with a turbo for the majority of road driving the turbo will be making relatively less boost putting the engine under less continuous strain, then when you hit the loud pedal you will still make as much power once the turbo is up to speed....

The concern about turbos is the imact of the boost delivery. The SC has a linear increase in power where turbos usually give all or nothing so you have a rapid pressure increase which is where the issues arise.
This isn't an issue with smaller turbos tho as you have a much more responsive spool and the thing is designed to delivery low boost values so if you buy a decent turbo you'll get that

super chargers and turbo's are totally different from a h22 point of view imo.
you can run hi comp with superchargers for one. and they are A LOT easier to instal and get working reliably.
Minimal plumbing and the need for an intercooler on a JRSC would seem a bit daft imho. The intake comes right off the CAI of the OEM system.
Where would you even put an intercooler with a JRSC top mounted Supercharger?
I dont know.
