Reason why engine wont start on 3rd gen?

Yeah, basically the solder point that has cracked loses connectivity after a certain temp. Allow it to cool and all will appear as right as rain.

just went out at lunch time to get a mc d's and now mine wont bloody start,

going to have to do my main relay at work as i cant start my lude.

mine cranks over and started but had no power took it up the road and it kept misfiring progresivly getting worse. parked up and turned it off.
now it wont start at all, just pops and bangs intermittenly. does this sound like the main relay too?

These are not symptoms of the main relay problem.

The main relay gives power to the fuel pump and injectors, generally it either works or doesnt (ie when it gets hot). To me it sounds like you have an ignition problem, dizzy maybe or leads? That may explain the misfiring?

Yeah, sounds like dizzy leads or plugs to me

battery should be ok, but will try a jump.
what happens is.... as engine cranks it pops and backfires once or twice every couple of engine rotatons.

Are they not the same symptons you were having when you went to pick her up Sam? Have you tried jumping her?
