Evening,
I'm after some advice if possible has anyone ever heard there handbrake just stop working, cable is working, brakes are working, springs working but when I go pull the handbrake externally it looks normal but handbrake just doesn't bind at all. Before I change the calipers just though if all is anyone has had this before.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Handbrake

I think we all have had some issue with rear handbrake at some point.
There is a procedure on how to set the handbrake - wind pistons back in - loosen handbrake adjuster under centre console - refit calipers and pump brakes a few times - with both wheels up in the air pull handbrake to one notch and then tighten adjuster so there is only slight drag.
If that doesnt work then it will be the internal mech for handbrake in the caliper isnt working.
Get refurbed calipers or new ones - around £60-£80 each.
Hope this helps

Also check that the rear brake pads aren’t just binding in the calipers. That often happens due to corrosion on the carriers, under the anti-squeal shims.
